Our story

More than 80 years on the same corner.

Sammy's opened in 1944 and has been feeding this neighborhood ever since.

When the diner went dark during the pandemic, it was a real loss for Del Paso Blvd. In 2024 the Begum family, a mother and daughter, brought it back. Same recipes, same counter, same welcome. These days they're coming up on two years back in business, and most mornings everybody knows everybody.

You'll also catch rotating specials that nod to the family's Fijian roots, plus Mexican, Chinese, and Italian dishes they love to cook.

Pull up a stool. You'll fit right in.

Incredible women of color owned and operated family diner! 12/10 breakfast and lunch and service. Sun through the windows in the morning to warm and wake you up with their coffee and chorizo eggs benedict.

I definitely come here for the vibes. They make you feel right at home, everyone is so friendly and accommodating. The food feels truly home cooked, with love in every plate. This has become my go-to lazy morning mimosa spot.

What a freaking fantastic place. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. This family owned spot is what we need right now, to relax and eat in peace and feel welcomed. This is the place.

Had Thanksgiving dinner and the food is excellent! Definitely a good place for breakfast or dinner. They were more than willing to adjust to my allergy needs, and the owner is very gracious and funny. Had a great time.
